I just wish to add, The quality of wood and finish has dramatically improved in the IOF .22 rifle currently being delivered by the factory. It would be preferable to get a newer produce.

Yes the finish is good. I finally got the rifle. Except for a scratch on the stock the rest is good. Will try how it shoots later.

Why iof made .22 rifles are so costly.But in other countries .22 like Marlin XT lr price is about 200 dollar(₹14000) is so low.what is the matter.

The Indian market is constrained by government imposed market imperfections - monopoly on domestic manufacture resides with IOF and imports are banned, to compound things further the government issues precious few new licenses thus artificially constraining consumer demand.

Therefore IOF is free to charge as much as they feel the market is willing to bear, in the absence of any other competitor their pricing need not bear any relation to cost of manufacture.
