It is a beauty and if thats what attracts you ..you can go ahead otherwise its like you are spending anything between 2-4 lakhs depending on the condition . The gas system which made the gun a monster has been disabled so that should be considered that it will not perform the way it did in those days . Otherwise of all the users i know it is low maintenance gun and a toughy.

I just do not see the point of buying a Garand or what passes for it. It cannot be used a semi, which makes it PB, and the semi facility is disabled. You need to manually operate the bolt like any other bolt action rifle, which is not the most convenient operation.

Why not buy an IOF bolt action rifle which is an infinitely better option in all respects? JMHO.

Don't forget that without clips the Garand will be a single shot, and a clumsy one at that. I would be surprised to learn that the Garand clips are readily available in India.

Hi tworivers
clips for m1grand are available in india with dealers and when rifle is allotted its allotted with 2 clips.here in north india we call them chargers. If you want your chamber empty then only 7 cartidges are fed in clip not 8.As 8th will straight go to chamber thanks

As long as there is a single cartridge left in the clip, it will be chambered when the bolt closes. Only if you push down on the cartridge(s) with your thumb while letting the bolt close, can you let it close on an empty chamber. With seven only in the clip/charger you stand a good chance of dropping them when handling the clip.

hi TwoRiver
you are right its difficult to fill clip with 7 cartridges but you have to find a way if you dont want your chamber loaded. One another way is to feed full clip of 8 cartridges and eject cartridge manally 1st one and push down other cartridges with your thumb and close the bolt thanks
