My Remington XCR 375 H&H has got company

Post by herb » Sun Jul 15, 2007 12:14 am

It’s a CZ 550 Magnum in 375 H&H.

First impressions - Build like a tank, 2lbs heavier than the Remington, CRF action, nice finish, action not as smooth as the Remington, express sights, set trigger (helps at the range not sure if desirable when hunting). Planning to send to the smith for two cross bolts, trigger job and stock bedding.

Question for folks from the U.S - Any info on the model? This is not the American Safari, no cheek piece on the stock. No CZ-USA logo, this model is neither listed on the CZ-USA website nor the CZ site (www.czub.cz). Since this gun is purchased in Canada, it is a ndirect import from Czech Republic. This could be an advantage as I was told that the guns made by CZ-USA are put together in US (by contractors), only the actions are imported from CZ and many of these guns have QA problems. The CZ 550 Magnums listed on the CZ site (www.czub.cz) are all European hog back stock.

Hi Herb,

If memory serves me correctly, there used to be a firm in Canada by the name of Prago-trade who imported CZ arms into Canada. Maybe its one of their imports?

Nice rifles BTW...

Take care!

Vikram - I will be using the Remington XCR for all my hunting in Canada as it is synthetic/stainless and atleast 2lbs lighter. The XCR is push feed and I just wanted a 375 in CRF, also I have been hearing a lot good things about the CZ 550 Magnum. I do have to agree that it is best value for money currently out there for a rifle in .375+

Hunter - Currently London Arms is the importer the CZ line of products in Canada.

Cheers!
