I have gun accessory folding butt installed on sxs gun. The over all quality is good, there is no play in it in folded or extended position. The downside is that it is quite heavy (around 1 kg).

Do ask them about the weight of the .30-06 folding butt over phone before purchasing and then decide.

Well, it is a .30-06.
You are going to get some recoil in any sporting rifle chambered for the cartridge.

I was comparing it to a double barrel recoil. I had Googled to find US forces in WW1 were using the same cartridge with a heavier weapon, i.e the M1 Garand weighed in at 4.5 kilos. They were still some recoil issues.

"Double barrel" doesn't mean a thing, unless you mention the gauge and weight of the gun. No M1 Garand in WW1. Springfield 1903, and M1917 bolt actions.

A .30-06 will recoil, you may need to rework your stance and hold. If you don't have someone who can help out, you can try searching for videos online.

It might be some ignorant officials in some districts think like this. Legally it means nothing. Arms Act 1959 is same all over India.
