whether .22 savage high power rifle is acurate for long range and does this rifle have stopping power against blue bull (nilgai) or wild boar and what is the cost of ammo and availability of ammo

Its really a lovely rifle. I had one in my family years ago. It used to shoot tight one inch groups till 150 mt with 70 grain half metal jacket bullets ... Ours was a very old model that had a round cartridge counter on the right or left side (cant remember after all these years)

Personally I think its adequately powered, my bro. shot a hog(domesticated) with it for some villagers from about 50 yards, pig ran another 30 yards then dropped. Other than that its all target shooting.Carbine, I think a Nilgai would be a real challenge though, IMO neck shots ought to do it.

Great rifle. And looks to be in good nick. Congratulations. I have the same model. Having shot several rifles, I rank it the best light rifle. The action is smooth. And the throw to shoulder is one of the smoothest in ant weapon I have put to shoulder. It's an incredibly good looking weapon. It it a take down? Or fixed barrel?

Very nice gun to own...good and in another 10 years this gun may add in to antiques collection

I was too young then and did not fire too many rounds through that rifle. It was my dad who was a great shot and used to get tight groups with it. But ours had a scope fitted. I don't think its easy to get such groups with open sights at 150 yards.
In fact, now I remember the Model 99 we had had a 410 barrel as well and the shells used to feed through the magazine. The conversion gun barrel had a fore-stock fitted to it just like the rifle barrel. Changing barrels was very easy.

Shadowring, do you still have this rifle? I am just wondering what the history of this Rifle might be. My Uncle Joe Ellis owned a rifle like this which he used to hunt Blackbuck back in the day when it was legal, he swore by it. He lived in Bangalore and sold it to a gentleman in Kolar Gold fields. I am seeking to find this Rifle as a nostalgic reason, Where did you get this from ? and where are situated? , you can privately contact me if you prefer,
