What should be the price for this revolver?

Post by hvj1 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 10:23 am

Dear friends,
Recently I have come across this revolver, its a .22 4" SIngle Six convertible with standard extra cylinder for .22 WMR cartridge. The only thing which detered me from buying it is the contraption fitted in the place of the rear sight. I checked with Ruger, and they have responded, saying that the said contraption is not custom made by them and is probably done by its former owner.
So gentlemen WHAT SHOULD BE THE PRICE for the said revolver??

Can't say anything about the price, but nice looking piece. Didn't like the contraption though.

Sa_ali,M24
Yes its a beauty is'nt it,its the great mystique and charm of the wild west captured by Ruger. The actual beauty I am looking for is displayed on my avatar, which is also a single six convertible in stainless steel BUT with a 6&1/2 inch barrel.
Contraption aside, a 4" barrel for a magnum round such as the WMR, which is primarily a rifle cartridge, requires a minimum of 6&1/2 inch barrel to make a significant difference over the .22 LR. Other wise the fps of the .22 LR and .22 WMR fps through a 4" barrel is not more than 150 fps.
The price quoted is Rs 4.7 lacs. What do yo guys have to say about it?

That "contraption" is a scope mount, for a long eye relief pistol scope. Looks professionally done, and takes Redfield style scope rings. For hunting with a handgun. Cheers.

Price appears too high for me, I would either wait for 2nd hand arms market to crash or go for IOF products at the moment, and invest rest of the money somewhere else where it can appreciate.

Agree with gb_m, wait for the time being. Who's knows what the market will be 6 months or a year from now.

Dear captgkm
Since the initial price quoted is Rs4.7 lacs how will it appreciate to Rs 4.5 lacs in 12 months time? Request you to amplify.

Show the Arms and Ammo draft to this dealer and tell him, you'll either give him 1l now or 50k six months later. His choice.

Your next investment after that, a stallion.

On the streets of ahmednagar, on top of a horse, torn jeans, revolver at hip, smoking beedi and your mobile ringtone of The good, bad and Ugly (You can also have beedi jaliyle, if that's your choice) in background; what more can a man ask ?? :)
