Congrats AMK, good catch! KF should be fine for plinking as long as you clean the gun after shooting, use stingers for carry :).

Best,
Ram

Congratulations....
Nice find. Yes do use HV ammo in it. Most .22 lr pistols like HV ammo, if possible try a few different brands to see what works best.
And do let us know the results. Be safe and shoot safe.

Went to the range on Saturday and tried it. Shot 41 rounds of CCI Mini Mags.

1st: 9+1 slow-ish fire, benched. Flawless functioning; low and left but grouped well. I wasn't really going for accuracy, just testing.

2nd: 9+1 rapid fire, single hand. Flawless, a little more accurate but still not good enough.

3rd: 9+1 rapid fire two hands. Flawless and 1.5 to 2 inch centre group.

4: 9 rapid fire one hand again. Flawless and good accuracy.

5: 2 rounds. Flawless.

I still fire my other pistol better but this was my first time with this and I can feel there is the potential for firing this dead centre. I'm in love with this pistol :D

I couldn't get hold of Stingers, will try them out next week.

Cheers, AMK

amk wrote:Why do you say that Abhi? I was told on other Walther forums High and Hyper Velocity would be ok as the frame, slide etc. were made for .32 and .380 ammo so .22 LR HV should be fine. Should I avoid it still? What about for carry purposes?

What about KF ammo, is it ok to use it for plinking? The dealer said Indian ammo tends to foul up a lot and there are cases where the rifling and/or barrels have been damaged. Should I avoid it or is it all just a hoax?

Anyone know who has and is selling spare mags for a .22 PPK? A Pistol feels incomplete with just a single mag.

Ta,
AMK
I was basing my suggestion on feedback I got from a friend, he has owned one since the 1980's (direct import) and he told me that for several years it was fed a steady diet of Rem Yellow Jackets, as a result of which the extractor broke off and he had to wait for a while before he could carry one back to replace the original part... .22 KF ammo should be fine for plinking as long as you give it a good clean afterwards, I really don't see how it could damage your barrel so long as you are diligent about maintenance. Though I am sure many others would suggest you stick to imports... and frankly, since you are a member of MSRA you should be able to get imported .22 LR ammo at the range for ~INR 8 per pop, so why bother with the KFs?

Cheers!

I hadn't thought of the extractor! Probably one of the most delicate and important pieces in a pistol. I'll try and get a spare one to keep handy just in case. Is it easy to fix an extractor or does it need tuning?

I test fired around 12 shots (9 IOF + 3 Phoren) before purchasing without any problem. I'll give a range report next week after trying CCI mini mags and stingers.

Edit: Some more

Cheers, AMK

AMK,
easy on the magnum, esp if its an aluminium frame... extractors are easy to fit, just dont lose the tiny spring and the detent pins etc

AMK,
Once elections are over....you can request for an increase in ammo quota.......I'm sure, they can easily increase it to 500/2000.

Happy shooting..... :)
