The question is HOW did he get this permission? Is there a clear documented process, or this is done via alternate means?

The process is well documented in Arms Rules 2016, in fact the new Arms Rules go into a fair amount of detail with regards to private manufacture.

I spoke to Mr Shiekh of Shiekh Arms today. The price of 7 shot .32 raptor is Rs 1.25 lakhs, and 14 shot version is Rs 1.75 lakhs. The price of .22 version is not yet decided. The product is made with imported stainless steel in fully automatic CNC machines. They have their own proof testing facility within the premises. They are fully booked for the next six months and not accepting anymore bookings currently. I suggested him to start a facebook page and or website for the public knowledge.

That looks rather nice. Please post more photos and also your impressions about the fit and finish and shooting impressions if you did shoot with it. Thank you.

Miles ahead of what the IOF has been churning out at least in the looks department. All the lines appear to the straight. There appear to be some cosmetic flaws though. The grip screws appear to be too large. The slide serrations on the right appear to be uneven. The markings on the both sides of the slide do not seem to match. The grip panel on the right would look better if it were rounded at the top. The ventilated rib does not appeal to me but that is something personal. All in all a good effort. Buyers would have some choice when they go to a gunshop which is good.

This is welcome break from IOF stuff, appears good. I would recommend they do something about the itching of their complete name on the slider, it is killing the looks.

It looks far better than an IOF .32 Pistol.
Hope the performance is also good.
Magazine Release, Slide, Safety etc. should all function smoothly.
It is double action, judging by the photos.
Hope the slide locks, when magazine is empty.
The Pistol does seem rather big for a .32 Bore.
This maybe because of the Double Stack Magazine which would hold 14 Cartridges.
With the limitation on the Cartridge quota in India,
Emptying 4 Magazines would exhaust the entire years quota.
Personally never understood why in the Indian self defence context,
One would require more than 6/8 Rounds.
Ventilated Rib on a Shot-Gun makes sense.
I doubt the function will be of any use on a Hand-Gun in India.
We don't get to shoot that many Rounds continuously, that the barrel will heat up.
Though the Rib definitely adds to the aesthetic value.

Regards,
Jr.
