Webley Scott with a different style of Safety Catch.

Post by starship_trooper » Wed Jan 13, 2016 3:07 pm

Dear esteemed Members,

Greetings to all. I am a new member here.
I am posting a few pictures of a Webley Scott Revolver Mk IV A Series 3 inch barrel.
The Safety catch is unlike what I have seen in other Webleys i.e. a solid rod above the grip.
In this case, the safety catch is a thin metal strip with upturned edges, inserted into the body just above the trigger. There is no hole drilled as such in the body, and the strip sits in place on a slight rectangular groove milled on the edge of the body. It slides to right or left to block the backward pull of the trigger. This sliding catch is sufficiently stiff so as not to slide on its own, and it projects outside the body very less, so as to be hardly noticeable, had it not been of a contrasting color.
Learned members may please peruse and offer comments, if any, on the safety catch, and the revolver in general.

Regards

Good looking and very well maintained. Is the blueing original ? if so, outstanding condition.

All the best and safe shooting,

Chicky

Interesting variation, I haven't seen one with that type of safety either.

Excellent condition BTW (y)

Cheers!
