Hi friends,
In today's Times of India , Mumbai edition on page No. 11 saw this advertisement by G. M. Field gun Factory , Kanpur. Calling authorised arms license holders to book long barrel 7.65 mm revolver (Anmol).
Sadly I dont have access to scanner right now

. Will try to post the paper cutting soon.
Finally, we will be able to see the much awaited Anmol soon
Regards.

... I'm surprised they aren't touting it as a foldable barrel revolver.

Despite all its drawbacks, the IOF has finally advertised a new product. We should welcome this positive development rather than making only sarcastic remarks. The problem with many of us is that our mind is set on foreign products. This is perhaps the legacy of British Rule over India. No one has so far reported that the weapons produced by the IOF are ineffective .It is true that these weapons do not provide any snob value and as such does not add to one's social status.
Having said all this , I do agree that IOF should bring in more better finish for its products.

The problem is not what you state to be, its because IOF makes crappy weapons....

with spin_drift. One example is that IOF .32 revolver throws lead shavings from the barrel/cylinder gap, by which many times, the shooter or some bystander gets injured. There are many such problems with the IOF products.

Yaar the snob thing isn't universal. Nor is the social status thing. There are a lot of practical folks who know what is good and what just doesn't hack it. Unfortunately, the awful iron-mongery that is made in country just doesn't reach the mark.
Certainly not discouraging genuine innovation and effort, but the overpriced rubbish that passes off as "New Product" is pure fraud on the part of the IOFB. Damn charlatans they are.... and to welcome the ANMOL as a positive development is encouraging fraud, mediocrity and of course, the stifling monopoly.
To be fair, there is foreign junk as well.
Its not that we Indians can't - gun making is not rocket science... but ridiculous government policies and the resulting monopoly has stifled innovation and enterprise .... and to pat the IOF on the back for a "job well done" considering the mammoth resources and industrial might at its disposal is rather being less than honest to oneself.
The fact that the fools can't even come up with a decent design half a century after independence.... let alone copy or pirate a design without buggering it up. Certainly they work... the make a loud bang and send the bullet in the direction that you point but the IOF monkeys seem to have lost the point somewhere.
...and I hope the sarcasm stings the bloody goofs.
regards,
cc
