Blank Gun

Is it permissible by our law to import the blank guns. There guns are like real one and action and fires like real. What would be the custom duty ? I am referring the following links regarding the blank guns.

I would be very careful bringing in a replica or so called "Blank Gun" They look almost like the real thing !

A couple of years ago the customs caught hold of a foreign student who was bringing in such a gun and handed him over to the Police under the Arms Act. The plea that it was a fake gun fell on deaf ears because they claimed the gun looked like a real one and decided to send it to to some kind of a government lab for test firing. The lab report took some weeks so the boy had to cool his heels in a police lock up pending the lab results.
Maybe they would not have reacted this way had the boy declared the fake gun at the customs and not tried to to bring it in as a toy !

Blank guns are available in Lucknow and other northen regions - I have seen frequent adds in the paper for them - includes fake cartridges (whatever that means) wasnt too expensive also - was around 350/- 10 yrs back.
Can anyone shed more light on this.

Yes even I remember those black and white ads which used to come in a lot of magazines. They had no license required in big type faces. But I doubt if they were blank guns or more likely some type of cap revolvers. But I'd love to be proven wrong.

They were blank firing revolvers. The ad I am talking about was pretty small - about 2"x2" and used to feature at the back of the Illustrated Weekly of India in the late 60's or early to mid '70s.

Yes Mack The Knife I was gonna write the illustrated weekly ones. But more than ten years ago more likely twenty. Any chance of you having a clipping? I would really love to find out if they are still available.

Well not so long ago - the last one i saw was around 10 yrs back - but that is since i left North.
Havent been back since so dont know if it is still around. would love to get one of those.

Ya, I remember those! Very Webley looking affair(Guess it tells us a lot about us Indians and Webleys).
My mom actually packs away old magazines into chests in the store room... Lemme see if I can dig in some time and find those ads...

The old ads published in the magazines were of 6 chambered cap-revolvers, not the modern blank-guns used in the movies. I had 5-6 of those toys in my childhood. They had revolving chambers but they clearly looked like toys.

Please refer the link and clipping I've posted earlier, its like a real pistol/revolver and fires like real one. The pistols have blowback action and ejection of fired Cartridges like real. In online shops like www.blankgunstore.com, they cost $130 - $300 each and the blank ammunitions cost $25 - $30 (50 rds). So, these are not those 60s-70s cap firing revolvers.

Is there any store in India who sells the replica blank guns ?

Lawman those were not cap revolvers as i clearly remember the ad saying and also showing some type of bullets with them.
Lets see if Cottage Cheese can pull up an ad from the old magazine and then we will have a lead to follow.
and if we all are lucky maybe we can just pick it up here itself

I think to some extent Lawman is correct as the gun he is referring is prop blank firing gun/replica gun. which usually fires 8mm or 9mm blanks and replicates the actual action like blowback in case of pistol or revolving action just like a real revolver. The revolvers are properly chambered to accept 9 or 8mm blanks. Some even performs full auto functions. Usually they are made by Kimer, Voltran, Marushin (MGC) and are expensive models. MGC also produce guns known as Model Guns which used reusable blank cartridges powered by PFC caps. Apparently there are hardly any difference with them with the real one except the orange plug in front of the barrel. I heard these guns are now available in India and are extensively used in Bollywood movies and are selling at a price not less than 30K INR in india. Mr. Mack The Knife Bana once mentioned that they are available in some stores in Bangalore but I forget the stores name.

The Indian model in question must not be the same like above and I guess either they are using cartridge primer or some sort of good quality cap to produce the noise..but I have never heard any Indian made blank firing pistols with blowback action for sale. If I remember correctly heard that there is a person called Mr. Rajendra Tyagi in Mumbai who recently started producing look alike pistols (Beretta M92 and Walther P38) Model only for Bollywood but not sure about the authenticity of this news.

Is it not permissible by our law to import the blank guns. The Placard on the Airport says that any kind of weapon or replica is in prohibited list of items.

i am getting a walther P 88 blank fire ( umarex make) brand new condition. what do u think guys wld be the right price. Since its not available in india and difficult to import

I probably know who you are buying it from. Let's just say that you would need your head checked if you agree to the asking price of between 35 to 45K.

been a long time since i was on IFG . you surely wouldn't be knowing where i am buying from. Found a new guy.. he is quite a magician ...heheh. has a good collection of knives also...buck, smith & wesson etc. i know blank fires are mighty expensive in india for the simple reason that its impossible to lay hands on one. But what a piece of beauty. i'm buying one and paying more then that. coz i hv a buyer who will buy it from me once i fulfill my desires..
