Colt .22 Magnum Semi Auto

has anyone seen a .22 magnum colt pistol that looks like a colt 1903 .32 from the front, but it has a hammer.

I did not know that Colt has ever made a semi-auto in .22 wmr. First look at the firearm's picture, the stamping on it looked dubious. Does it have a Colt horse stamped anywhere on it or any other proof marks? Then I saw the video, the pistol in the video and this pistol are exactly the same . The locking lugs of both the barrels are identical so are the frames, magazines and barrel thickness. Reading the comments given below the video, the poster says that there is no number stamped on his firearm !! So if it a fake, it not an isolated fake. Were they mass produced by someone during WWII era?
Though is doesn't seem to be genuine, our best bet would be to write to Colt's Manufacturing Company for clarification/details . Here ....http://www.coltsmfg.com/CustomerService ... vices.aspx

I have fired it with both .22 magnum and .22 lr (KF) at one inch thick hard wood plank from 10 yards. .22 magnum went right through and into a second plank but did not penetrate (Sounded as loud as a 9mm pistol).
I tried next with .22 lr (KF) manually inserted it into the breech and the bullet got stuck into the first plank (My AK500 AGNI air rifle performed better than that). I think I can remember seeing a small horse on it (not sure), the colt lettering looked a lot more authentic than the ones I have posted (those were from thai forums) and it said hartford, CT. The barrel was very thick though and the grip panel had been
replaced with some sort of brass.

Pretty competently made local cobble jobs masquerading as Colts in .22WMR have been circulating for a while. Why I've even come across two licensed examples.

The .22 wmr is supposed to penetrate more than the .22lr when shot through the same barrel. Secondly most .22 lr ME data available is for rifle barrels . The muzzle velocity when fired through a 4 inch pistol barrel would be lesser as compared to a 20 inch rifle barrel.You can very well imagine the results with a .22 wmr shot through a 20 inches long rifle barrel !! I have no idea about a AK500 AGNI air rifle !

I would tend to agree that it is a fake too.
The roll mark gives it away. The lettering on this pistol above looks like it was done with a steel letter punch set and a hammer.

Even in 1922 (photo below), Colt's marking process produced a nice even rollmark with the letters in a straight line and of uniform depth.

Sorry Doc for the confusion, no its not the one that I fired. The one that I fired I have returned it, But my question is directed towards this particular model here's the link. http://www.gunsandgames.com/smf/index.p ... c=46102.15
Could have fooled me though. I was wondering which other gun makers would field strip/disassemble by removing mags, then half cocking and twisting the barrel to take it out? Nonetheless, look wise it reminds me of the colt 1903 .32 pistol.
AGNI AK500 is kolkata made air gun. lol. .22 barrel and its rifled for extra power. cost me Rs.5500. Its accurate and perfect for plinking.

I have seen one of these here in mizoram too.. upon close inspection i noticed that the frames are made of sheet metal brazed together with either copper or brass. (one can see faint copper lines along the brazing line) It has a fixed welded extractor and if the slide is removed, the bolt area is hollow and one can see the firing pin and spring. the firing pin itself is held back by a grub screw infront of the rear sight. The rear sight is a solid piece welded to the top of the slide. Notice the trigger guard.. it is latched on to a notch on the grip and fixed with a screw from inside the frame infront of the trigger. The full auto disengager is a tiny rod which protrudes from inside the frame slide and engages with a notch cut on the rear of the slide. When the slide moves backwards the tiny rod is pushed downwards by the bottom of the slide and disengages the sear rod. The sear rod spring is a C shaped guitar string type piece of wire which protrudes from the inside of the grip recess. The mechanism is simple and ingenious and is unlike any firearm I have come across.
This gun reeks of Munger..
