I am planning to buy a Taurus PT92 9mm, have my local dealer offering it for 399$, which is a pretty good deal. and there is also a Armscor 1911 for 450 odd bucks. What do you guys think?

CZ P06 is an expensive gun, its nearly 640msrp, in that price I could get a Beretta 92FS

Re: some advice please
What is the purpose of this gun? Since you are in Californa where getting a carry permit is like sighting a Unicorn, I would assume it is for home defense or range practice and size is not an issue?
When you have a choice, I would shy away from Taurus. Are those the only two choices that you have? Be aware if your Taurus malfunctions, you will have to send it in to Taurus and it will take them a while to fix it. While their customer service is adequate, it is not stellar.
Like Baljit, I do not care for the Beretta 92 series or their clones but that is a matter of personal preference.
Have you looked at Glock, Keltec, Ruger, etc?
Regarding the two choices you have listed? Do you prefer 9mm or 45 ACP? Ammo for the 9mm will be significantly cheaper than .45 ACP. How much will you be shooting, Weekly, monthly, Yearly? If only infrequently then ammo prices might not make a difference.
Have you looked at the used gun market? You can get a second generation S&W auto (for example) for about that price which would be a whole lot more durable than the Taurus. Used Glocks are similarly priced. There are so many choices to consider.

Re: some advice please
As xl_target mentioned, if its for CCW, A Beretta 92FS would be hard to conceal and don't get surprised if you get busted for a little printing. BTW it would be better if you go to different gunshops around your area and 'finger' the guns to see which one fits you best and is affordable. I'd advice you to visit http://www.thehighroad.org/ and ask the members there as 90% of the users in this forum have no experience with the firearms you talking about, thanks to Indian gun laws. BTW $650 is maximum suggested retail price for Beretta 92FS, AFAIK they currently runs around $500 after introduction of Beretta 92A1
When I'll get to shoot a gun?

Thanks,
I already have two compacts in 9mm, Springfield XD for me and SW sigma for my GF (she has a ccw permit although she never carries the sigma), I just wanted to get a full size pistol for some range time, and I liked the feel of the berretta 92, I am also in the market to buy a Ak so don't want to spend 600 bucks on a pistol. The only reason I am looking at the PT 92 is because the dealer is offering it at 399.
I am not very keen on getting the 45ACP, because I like the commonality in my Ammo, but the 1911 is on my wishlist. I dont shoot as often as I used to, but the thing is i want a full size pistol. something that looks and feels cool. all suggestions are welcome, thanks for the reps

Not being in the US the brands we come across are slightly different. Izmash, Romak, Vz et al. The ones available to us are all built on the Milspec chassis with the full auto switch disabled. Though a proportion of them are known to malfunction at will.
