How Good Is a .25 Melior Pistol?

Post by nabeelmdkhan » Tue Jul 19, 2011 7:26 pm

HI Friends.
I've inherited a .25 Melior Pistol (Belgium Make)from my dad which he had bought in late seventies from his cousin for 20K, and i have been nominated as a Retainer in his licence which holds permission for a Pistol & 12 Bore DBBL gun (Cogswell & Harrison England). Both the Arms & Ammunition are in my custody since my dad has a very little knowledge about the weapons and he is very busy with his work.In the recent days I had applied for a fresh licence for a .22 NP bore Rifle which is now been granted. I have seen some good rifles which i am suppose to buy one. The question i have is that the above said weapons can be transferred to my new licence or can i use them as a Retainer. And recently i had got an offer for the pistol for 3.5 L on exchange with an IOF .35 Revolver. Both the guns are in mint condition and sparingly used which i cant even think of selling them coz my dad has gifted them to me and they are priceless for me . Experts please let me know how good these weapons are????
Thanks & Regards...
Nabeel Md Khan.

In your case i think you will first have to apply additional weapon license for .12 ga and Pisto/revolver as essentially your license if for .22 rifle, so you can only get that endorsed on that license.
You can put application for additional weapon along with application from your father he wants to transfer his weapons to you and he will surrender his license, that will make your additional weapon application hold more ground.

nabeelmdkhan,

C & H 12ga DBBL that also in mint condition is for keeps .

The Melior pistol was made from 1907 to 1914 in two models. Does your piece have serrations at the muzzle ? A pic would be helpful. By the way ballistically, .25 acp is an anaemic round, better than nothing though . :)

best,
Rp.
It's always better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it !
