F.N.Browning 1911 and Lignose Einhand pistols

Hi everyone
I am a new member of this forum. I own a .380 F.N.Browning (Belgium) and my wife has .25 Lignose Einhand (german) pistol, I looking to have some information on Lignose.....Can any one help me on this? I am uploading the pics for both the guns.

Hi SKB,

Both weapons appear to be well kept.

The FN browning Model 1910 is more commonly encountered in .32ACP chambering. If I memory serves me right a couple of shots fired by an M1910 in .380 by Gavrilo Princip in June 1914 killed the Achduke Ferdinand and the Duchess in Sarajevo...sparking off World War I.

As for the Lignose EInhand, its one of many similar and peculiar designs that circulated in Europe in the first quarter of the 20th century. As you would obviously know, the front strap of the trigger serves as a finger cocker, that racks back the slide and releases it for chambering a round. Your's looks to be a Mod. 3-A and would have been commonly made by Theodor Bergman Maschinen und Waffenfabrik, Suhl, Germany. Some would have been marked as Theodor Bergman instead of Lignose Einhand. Similar contemporaries were made by Chylewski Soc. Industrielle Suisse, Neuhausen, Switzerland... In fact the the original patent for the design was held by Chylewski.

I believe some dodgy clones also came out of Eibar, Spain

The concept has more, recently been borrowed by the Chinese Norinco Type 77 and 77B pistols.

They both look in great Nick congrats and thanks for sharing. Lignhose - well had never heard about this name learned something new . Would like to know how you acquired these guns - heirlooms and how they fire?

Thanks ngrewal & cc for showing interest. No these are not inherited, rather I bought these some time back. Yeah they are in good condition and reliable enough for self defence. Lignose seems to be 1926-27 make

first time i am reading about a couple owning guns in india..thats a good news. the lignose ,never knew about this gun.thanks for sharing and comments.

Talking about the era it was made, the weather and the popular clothing worn, an interesting thing about the design of the Lignose was that it could be cocked with one hand while it was being carried concealed in the pocket of one's long coat . If desired, the shot could be taken through the pocket itself (would have ruined the coat though).
