Availability of non .32 handgun calibers

Post by gahourdethwal » Sun Jan 15, 2012 12:44 pm

Punjab is getting worse each day given the dramatic rise of gangsters and gang activities. Its bad enough that people like my father who are usually very anti gun to seriously consider getting a firearm we were wondering how realiable the .32 caliber local revolvers and pistols are. Are there other calibers than .32 and .22 that are commercially available and more importanly, non prohibited. I tried asking around but even the law enforcement folks aren't sure about it.

i would beg to differ, .32 is a good hand gun and with right shot placement does gives one a nasty headhech.

and here in India we can have 9x21mm hand gun as well as .357 mag.

please check out the forum to see what others have been through regarding handguns ammo etc.

only way to know what you can have or not is to go and ask for it.

thanks for the reply. Also what are the laws for bring a firearm into India? I was looking at prices for .357 revolvers and let's just say they are inflated.

sorry to hear that you could not find the firearms code. lol only reason you could not find it because there ist one.

check the forum and one will find what one can have, having said that, the realistic view is what can be had. every thing apart from local stuff will be 30 years or more old.

best not to ask the police any questions as they are in most cases stupid then local monkeys , not that i am insulting the monkeys.

in the main the police job is to deny you your rights as saying no is easy then saying yes, no has two letters and yes has more work.

.22 and .32 is common handgun NPB in India, as iof manufactures its ammunition. so is .22, .315 and 3006 among the rifles. India is only country in world which manufactures .315. Rest of NPB ammunition is imported so weapons are limited in other NPB calibers.
Do not apply for specific caliber in arms license, but apply as NPB pistol/revolver or NPB rifle.
Regarding getting license for 9mm which is PB, yes you can get , if you have big sifarish to push your file to MHA.

I'm not bitching about politicians and police, I'm just saying, politician's relatives exploit the law, and the common citizen can't have it! That's just utterly retarded. And I'm pretty sure I mentioned carrying a handgun as concealed carry is legal in India unlike Canada for civilians.

Do not compare the matters of Canada with India. Do not mention any particular bore in your arms license application, just mention NPB pistol/revolver or NPB shogun/rifle. Once you get the NPB firearm licence purchase any NPB firearm from among those available.

You are absolutely right , it's up-to the common citizens that how far they willing to take. If common citizen in Libya and many more places can stand up to their right so does the people of India too. If common citizens been aware of the law of the land this would not have happened in the first place. It's your rights you use it or loose it . Your rights being taken away cause you let them take away and not speak. You did not speak when it happened to your neighbor cause you felt lucky and next time your neighbor was sitting on the fence enjoying the show.
