Haryana riots gun shop looted

Post by spin_drift » Tue Feb 23, 2016 5:57 pm

Rioting and arson had continued through last night, with protesters setting on fire BR Mall, several shops and vehicles, besides looting a firearms shop ('gun house'). Protesters were now in possession of firearms too, though the numbers could not be ascertained.
This is going to get nasty.

It has already come to that. It is already more than just nasty. In any political movement, there are criminal elements and vested interests who take advantage of the situation.

Criminal elements find it easier to get unarmed soft targets for committing heinous crimes. Importance of RKBA cannot be denied for protecting oneself.

In order to discredit and defame the political movement, politically vested interests(of the opposing side) encourage and infiltrate the criminal elements into the movement, so that they can defame and gain political mileage. Again importance of RKBA for ordinary folks is very important.

Below mentioned news item illustrates the importance of RKBA very clearly -
Vehicles with women passengers were reportedly stopped on the national highway near Murthal in the wee hours of Monday morning, they were dragged out into the nearby fields and raped. Though the police dismissed the incident as rumour, eyewitnesses said at least 10 women were sexually assaulted. Even worse, the victims and their families were reportedly advised by the district officials not to report the matter to anyone “for the sake of their honour”.

Sources said commuters going towards the National Capital Region (NCR) were attacked by 30-odd goons. Their vehicles set afire, most ran for shelter. Some women could not flee. They were pulled out, stripped and raped. Terrified, they lay still in the fields till they were found by their menfolk who came looking for them. Shocked, residents of Hassanpur and Kurad rushed to bring clothes and blankets for the victims.

"Three women were taken to Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba and united with their families in the presence of senior police officers. They appeared lifeless. District officials who arrived there, instead of investigating the matter, persuaded the families to take the women home. Many were provided transport," said an eyewitness, who did not want to be identified.

Residents of Hassanpur and Kurad, camping at Sukhdev Dhaba since Sunday after goons tried to set the eatery on fire, corroborated the account. Amrik Singh, owner of the dhaba, said they learnt about the incident at 3 am when some travellers heard the victims wailing. He said a blockade on the highway was removed by the security forces a kilometre away from the dhaba after a mild lathicharge. Some youths hid themselves in the fields. After the security personnel, who escorted the stranded vehicles, had left the site, some of them came out. “They threw stones at other vehicles that had arrived there in the meantime, forcing the occupants to flee. Some women who were left behind were sexually assaulted,” the eyewitnesses said.

Shaken up by the incident, village elders Hari Krishan of Kurad and Zile Singh of Hassanpur said they didn’t want to talk about the incident as “the police are sure to shield the criminals and nobody, not even the locals, are safe.” Jai Bhagwan, who too runs a dhaba on the highway, said four young women took refuge inside a water tank near his dhaba.

“We turned off the lights so as not to attract the attention of the goons. The hapless women remained there for hours till they were escorted out at daybreak.”

Several witnesses claimed that the rape victims were persuaded by “senior officers” not to pursue the matter on the plea that it would bring them a bad name and “what had happened could not be undone”.

A senior IPS officer said it was just a rumour and the media should refrain from writing anything that could create tension in society.

Time and again in India we have witnessed riots and other instances when there has been a complete breakdown of law & order. In such situations the ONLY recourse citizens have for their safety is to be armed and able to defend themselves and their families.

I second Abhijeet and GBM. I am sure most of us agree!

Yeah, you just quote what we (sarkar) say and everything will be all right! This copper must be Goebbels reincarnated!

I completely agree, in times of trouble we tend to look at others for help, whereas the biggest help lies within.
Good citizens must get armed for their own sakes , to protect and defend. A case in example is Punjab, which has the highest per capita holding of licensed arms but the forth lowest crime rate in the country, due to those. Criminals know that they will face resistance if they cross the limit, and that maintains the balance and law and order.

No no no how was can we indian pick up arms and use gun, they are not for us. Till this stupid mindset goes away nothing will happen, every now and then 1 or the other political group will hold the LAW abiding citizens to ransom.

We are a leftist country and a socialist country.
(I am not saying this, the constitution says so)
We have the police to protect us.
We should not take the law in our hands but trust the govt to take care of us.
If it is not possible we should give more power to the govt and the police.
After the London riots several people came to the defence of the rioters saying why blame the poor for looting plasma screen TV and branded shows and aftershave etc.
what choice do they have when rich can afford plasma and branded clothes but the poor can't. Shouldn't poor also have access to these.

Haha.
I say ki the right to protect property and life is sacrosanct.

One of the reasons why the sikhs have the "kirpan" as one of the 5 ks in their religion. I guess things haven't changed much in these last few 100 years.
That is why Good and law abiding citizens must arm themselves.

Its one of the most terrifying experience facing a mob especially when police isnt around and worst when police is with the mob..abject failure of law and order and India and Indians dont seem to learn from their mistakes.

Regards,
In Rohatak which was worst affected due Jat agitation whole colony was saved by three families who have 3 shotguns .In such situation common people like us r made targets but in Haryana relatives of Ministers r made targets by anti social elements who took advantage of jat agitation. In many places mob was carrying both legal and illegal guns.It is most inhuman type of violence where hospitals ,schools were selected and reduced to ashes.

Do you have any documentation about this? A news clip for example. The reason for asking this is that i am collecting data where RKBA has enabled citizens to successfully defend themselves.

What a pity and debasement, supposedly free citizens of a free country have to ask for permissions(license = permission) from government to possess tools for defending their lives!
