My son saved a life tonight

Post by Mark » Mon Dec 29, 2014 1:44 pm

Apologies due to patient confidentiality laws I cannot give too many details, but the brief version is that my 19 year old son and myself are both volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians for our local ambulance service (volunteer service). Tonight we had an ambulance call where the patient went into cardiac arrest. My son did the CPR compressions for approximately 10 minutes while I did the breathing -the easy part- and we were able to get the heartbeat back. Patient is not out of the woods yet but at least their heart is still beating.

Anyway, his efforts made me think of this:

Needless to say I am quite proud of him.

In today's times when we only hear about lives being taken, it is very comforting to hear this wonderful act of love and compassion.

I am sure you are very proud of your son, your son has done something that he will always cherish as a noble act, the saving of a human life.

That's great news, Mark.
I was impressed by all your children and how well mannered they all were. You guys have done a real good job parenting them.

Mark, few people get an opportunity to save a life...it is something to cherish as I am sure you will for the rest of your life. You are justifiably proud of your son,but give yourself a pat on the back as well. Hopefully the patient pulls through.

Mark, what a proud father you must be. And what a proud individual your son must be to make such a difference to an individual's life at this early age.

Cheers,
