Invitation to Submit Logo Designs for NAGRI

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

Some good ones there gents, please keep them coming! :-)

Others, those who aren't adept at graphics tools, can at least weigh in with some constructive suggestions...

Naga, the winner will get a surprise gift from the IFG kitty as well as a batch of NAGRI stickers wearing the new logo.

Cheers!

I thought using the arms of the old East India Company as a base around which a new logo could be designed for NAGRI. It would truly be quite 'tongue in cheek' for NAGRI!

The Arms of the East India Company

Oh, I can visualize where all the letters of NAGRI would fit on top, then the lions holding the Indian flag, then images of guns replacing the ships and then finally Civil Rights, Dignity and Self Protection at the bottom if you like in Latin or Devanagri.

By the way the East India Company is currently Indian owned! Purveyors of fine food - Bravo! http://www.eicfinefoods.com/
Only an opinion:

I agree with CK, but I do note that the current trend is to a more simple and modern design. I suspect that this has to do with graphics design, production, and cost (like everything else ruled by bean counters nowadays). Remember that the symbol has to be used on bumper stickers, window decals, official letterheads, and computer graphics for TV and internet distribution. A simpler design is more scaleable for this.

However, as I said, I do like the old symbols and I can appreciate what CK is saying. Get rid of the mermaid lions and go with lions from the Asoka. Also, dump the St. George's Cross on the pennants the mermaid lions are holding and go with a orange, white, and green tricolor design on them. The actual coat of arms could feature weapons, but also a wheel (as from the flag), or the wheel could be worked in somewhere else.

For myself, I would not bother with Latin. I would go with something anyone could readily understand for a motto. The writing style guides that I read all say to ditch foreign expressions -- this was something more prevalent when Latin was the language of scholarship, French was the language of foreign relations and literature, Italian was the language of song and opera, and German was the language of engineering. Those days are gone and I think something that is readily apprehended by anyone in India (if not a larger audience) is good.

There must be an easily recognizable motto that would fit in the area underneath, such as a very short quote by someone that pertains to rights, that could be used.

These are only a few suggestions.
