Briha,
For information sake, her father was the late Digvijay Singh, formerly President of the NRAI.
AS of today, India ranks highest in the medal tally in shooting, narrowly beating England. http://results.glasgow2014.com/sports/sh/shooting.html

Re: Indian Shooters win medals at CWG
Many congratulations to our shooters whose perseverance and individual effort is paying dividends at these games!
For them Hobby shooters/ enthusiasts don't count for anything, so any 'benefit' given to shooters isn't likely to trickle down to the level of the ordinary hobbyist/ enthusiast. For that to happen we need a change in mindset of those wielding power...
Cheers!

As far as the government babus and others are concerned, you aren't a 'shooter' unless you compete in formal state & national level events or better still qualify as a 'renown shot'.anubhav_rulez wrote:Kudos to all of them...they certainly have made India proud. Keeping fingers crossed hope this changes government view towards shooting fraternity.

And it basically means only those and children/ relatives of those who have access to the best of weapons and training facilities will continue to enjoy the benefits and shine as shooters while thousands of men, women and children who may actually have better physical and mental qualities to become ace shooters will never make it simply because they don't have the money and the right connections.
Do you remember how a group of 50 and 60 year old women from a remote village in Rajasthan (or Gujarat may be) stole the limelight at a shooting competition specially organized some 10 or 12 years ago, I still remember the India Today photo of an elderly lady shooting a Walther, dressed in traditional attire and old those silver jewellery. It was such a treat for the soul
Cheers

Sadly enough 'the power wielders' are oblivious to the fact that 'It's the enthusiasts & hobbyists' who turn into match shooters and bring glory to our country!!!

Sport is always in our blood. Only that it is not encouraged by the family, school, government etc we are lagging back.
Parents are schools have made book education so important and mandate that a holistic way of learning and living is deteriorating every day.
Congrats on winning the medals. And making us all proud.

So as of politics, medals are won by the people where guns are basically banned. Bravo to the people.
AS of today, India ranks highest in the medal tally in shooting, narrowing beating England. http://results.glasgow2014.com/sports/sh/shooting.html
Our CBC and other media never mentioned "SHOOTING" as they were tallying medals, no surprise !!!

Gagan Narang bagged the silver with a score of 203.6 in the final of the men's 50m rifle prone event. He missed the gold narrowly, as Australia's Warren Potent shot a 204.3 to win the event.
Jitu Rai and Gurpal Singh made it another momentous day for the Indian shooting contingent at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, winning the gold and silver, respectively, in the 50-metre men's pistol finals at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre in Glasgow on Monday.

Results as on 30th. July for shooting here http://results.glasgow2014.com/sports/sh/shooting.html
Surprisingly, we do not seem to have a single entry for full bore/ big bore.! The lone winner of Indian origin could be him! http://results.glasgow2014.com/athlete/ ... patel.html
Meanwhile, Lajja has done my home state proud http://results.glasgow2014.com/athlete/ ... swami.html
As results come in for other sports India has slipped to the sixth place in ranking http://results.glasgow2014.com/medals.html
Currently, of the 36 medals won by Indian athletes, 17 are from shooting!
