Post by TenX » Thu Sep 04, 2008 8:49 pm

Karnataka Junior shooter Kiran won the silver at the Surender Singh competition conducted last week, in the 50m Prone category. He is also chosen for this year's KOA (Karnataka Olympic Association) Sportsman of the Year award.
My heartiest congratulations.

Kiran, as mentioned above, was honored with the KOA (Karnataka Olympic Association) Award for 2008, at a function in Bangalore today.

Among the chief invitees of this felicitation, the two Bronze medal Olympic champions, Sushil Kumar and Vijender Singh were present. The state honoured them with a cash prize of 2 Lakhs with the heritage method of the Mysorean Peta and Shawl. Apart from this, Sushil was presented with a silver mace while Vijender was given a framed boxing glove momento.
It was good to see them and revoke last month's spirits :)

The only bad aspect was that Sushil did not speak while Vijender's voice went unheard in the photographer's melee. Of course, we had netas and oldies whose voice and words were deemed with more importance :(

Good to hear these medalist are being deservedly feted and honored. Offcourse now every one else would like to jump on the bandwagon and toot their horn.

Indian Public and polity tends to have short memory and mistreat their talent does any one remembers other Olympians such as Karnam Malleswari, hopefully this Olympics will change this perception.

Best
