Hey guys, I wonder if Mehul mentioned this to you. I have an extra Blaze Orange vest that my wife wore for one season. If you don'nt mind, you can borrow it for the Pheasant hunt. Or if you want, you can borrow my blood stained (deer and pheasant) vest and I can wear hers.

That shooting range thing is a bad idea. My friend Sunil and I used to do it in New Hampshire. It was cheaper then, $5/hr pistol, $5/hr range. They made their money in Ammo. They wd'nt allow outside ammo and their ammo was overpriced. I was thankful that I could shoot. It took me a year to realize that I was being stupid. I'd say, stick with Trap and ask at the range about someone who has handguns and if they'll let you shoot. That way it'll be a lot easier on you.

If you ask me, unless its action shooting (IPSC, IDPA or such), shooting paper is boring. "Maybe" silhouette and bowling pins. Inder, try to find an IDPA/IPSC/USPSA/GSSF/ICORE match near your area, call the range or match director and tell them you want to shoot but don't have gear, I'm sure they'll hook you up. Offer to buy his/her match fee or lunch or something in return. You have to do some action pistol before you leave the US.

Sharief,

Yes, this is the Ambassador Executive SxS sidelock though the price is MUCH lower than what you have mentioned. The gun was a SHOT show display piece and it is ANIB. Inder has seen it along with me. I still haven;t decided whether or not to buy it. The seller also has two immaculate Browning Superposed guns and another option we were thinking of was for Mark and me to buy one each of those. The seller is in no hurry to sell and neother am I in a hurry to buy, though the gun is a really nice one from my brief examination of it.

Amit/Inder,

I could join you gentlemen on Saturday afternoon at the same time as last Sunday. Have to take my wife for a checkup in the morning. I'd love to check the Farm and Fleet store out though I got a nice gift today - a Ralph Lauren Blaze Orange jacket and cap from my wife. I didn't know that R-L made them and, to be honest, my Gujarati blood cringes at the price she paid, but I am not complaining.

If the Aurora club is open in the afternoon, I could join you. Otherwise, we could go there early and I could return by about 11:30 or so - please let me know what you think. I am free on Thursday afternoon if you would like to shoot a round or two on that day as well.

Sorry but I forgot to tell you about Sharief's very generous offer to lend his Blaze Orange jacket to anyone who wanted to use it for the day. His build would be similar to Inder's and if Inder would like to borrow it instead of buying one for just a day, that would be a very good idea.

Will talk to you gentlemen on the phone tomorrow,

Cheers,

Mehul

Yea that's a good idea.. Inder you should use Sharief's extra vest. I will just buy one. I can always use it later.

Mehul... the Aurora Club is open from 9-2 on Saturday. I dont mind going there early and be done by noon or before. And then stopping by at Farm and Fleet.

Hi Mehul and the Chicago gang,

Seems like you are about to enjoy a preserve hunt. These things are awesome, though expensive.

Everybody should at least once a while, go for these preserve/plantation hunts. Only place where you can shoot a decent number of birds, in a very congenial environment. Nothing like it, in regular hunting. Regular hunting, freeze all day and lucky if you can get a couple of birds.

Preserve hunts though, a bird hunters heaven.
Hunt in the morning, decent lunch and then back for another hunt. Come back relax, eat, drink and BS in the lounge.

Don't just post the pictures, we need the story also.

Good shooting and fun.

hello everyone,
I was in India for a couple of weeks last month and have been very busy since I got back. I have been reading posts on and off, but never got a chance to write.

I am really excited for everyone going on the pheasant hunting trip, and I really wish I could find time to go. Like Satpal says, preserve hunts, I've heard are much easier (hence fun especially for beginners) than hunting on your own on public/conservation land. Expensive, but a darn good chance of getting a good number of birds, and a good time overall.

I was out in the woods all day yesterday, with my friend (and hunting instructor at our Gun club) John, since it was the last day of Firearms deer season in NH, but unfortunately we didn't see anything all day. But it was still a lot of fun, especially for me, since I got to learn a lot from John - tracking, wildlife signs identification, stories from other trips of his (he got a bear in New Brunswick Canada earlier this fall), etc.

Mack The Knife, apologies for not beig in touch, the hunter's ed book has reached India and should be on its way to Bangalore sometime this week.

And like everyone else said, we definitely want pictures and stories from the bird hunting trip.

Inder, I am very happy that you are making the most of your time here, and my thanks to Mehul, Inder, Sharief, and others for taking time out to show a fellow enthusiast around.

Now that I'm back, i will be more regular with my posts.

Welcome back, Naren.

No worries about the book. Actually, I have joined the NRA and was thinking of ordering it and a few vids on my return in Jan.

Thanks.
