pictures of knives from plantations

recently i went my friends coconut plantations near dindugul (a place near madurai,south of tamilnadu) where i came to see some knives that are used by the guards of the plantation.if you have the same please post

Goondaswami,

The first picture and second one from the left is a regular kripan available at all Gurudwara's (I think and am pretty sure). I am sure that some of the exact similar pieces would be lying around the house. I will try to trace them and post pictures.

this one was several years back when i went to collage tour to Kerala where we took elephant ride and to my side this knife was there i asked the elephant keeper about the knife he told the handle was ivory. being on the back of elephant going ups and downs this was the only good pic i got

just beatiful...thata aruval i believe the long knife in the first pic...the second one next to it is actually a kashmiri design but very commonly seen around himachal and punjab and is more of a handicraft

This knife has a nice design on the handle.Worth restoring and displaying it

i dont own the knife aadhaula just took the pic when i went elephant ride,if possible i will go the place in a few months and see that its there or not

The Aruval in the picture is more a weapon than a plantation implement. The long blade and the metal on the handle serve to keep a tight grip on the weapon. A typical aruval for farm work would be smaller more curved like this.

Because many arguments are settled by the famous Tirupacchi Aruval (famous for its knife making artisans, the police have banned them from manufacturing any sickles with a blade length exceeding 18 inches.
