Yes 9 inches in length and less than 2 inches wide.

No. These are the basic level of laws applicable all India. For EDC, it seems your local police station can work out some limit or the other. Doesn't impact general life too much, as not many people carry knives on a daily basis.

I was also planning the same to have the kukri from the nepal.
But recently I got a Assam kukri knife in India.
