Corbett National Park and a friend's farmhouse near Mussori

Stayed at the Khilanauli bungalow at Corbett National park . Highly recommend - the dak bungalow chicken is unforgettable - so are the sounds of the jungle when you hear them sitting on the bungalow verandah , sipping Glenmorangie , in pitch darkness . The elephant trumpets , the tiger lets out a lazy ' aaaaoooongh ...." and teh porcupine walks past making a peculiar sound .....my friend was convinced it was a female ghost walking around with tinkerbells tied on her feet. 12 years back , when I first went there , there was no electric fencing and wild elephants would come right up to the bungalow .
Unfortunately at this bungalow , acco is not guaranteed till the evening before as the political hot shots like to get it for themselves . But on weekdays , not around any major holidays , it is available .
The tiger photos and the pic of the mother elephant with her cub were shot between 5-6 a.m. in the morning , from elephant back , using a Nikon D40X with a 55-200 mm zoom . All other pictures are with a 18-55 Nikkor lens.
Zoom in to see the jackal carrying off a chital hind outside the electric fence of khilanauli .
there are also some pics of a farmhouse a firend of mine own near kempty falls , Mussorie. Right behind it is the quali sanctuary and a jungle track which goes thru the jungle where leopard still roam . leopards have taken dogs right from the lawn you see in the pic . During the day time a walk on the track is very pleasent and you can hike up to Cloud's End .
Hope you enjoy the pics .
