Fireworks

Post by xl_target » Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:20 pm

Last night was the 4th of July. A day of celebration usually topped off with a fireworks demonstration.
Here are a few photos of America celebrating two hundred and thirty five years of independence.

Thanks Tosh,
I posted the settings below each photo. A DSLR does make the job easier so it was more the camera than me. The biggest issue I had was tripod jitter from the explosions (need a heavier tripod). I had to try and time it to miss the worst ones.
Since these are reduced in size for posting on the forum, the originals seem clearer and brighter. Another problem is that when locking the shutter open, the mirror blocks the viewfinder so I couldn't zoom in and some estimation was necessary.

My God xl.
Most of us in India envy your collection.
Tell me something very honestly.
Do you ever buy anything apart from guns and ammo when you go out shopping. LOL
Amazing Collection .

Prashantsingh,
I only wish I could buy all the guns that I wanted, .......so many guns calling my name but not enough money.
Haven't bought ammo in a while, just components.

I really don't have that many guns. Now if you want to see my model railroad cars and locomotives.....

I do appreciate your pics, XL; they look wonderful. Thanks for sharing, as we didn't get out to see fireworks this year.
Now if you want to see my model railroad cars and locomotives...
Funny that you should bring that up, since I'd love to see them if you get the chance to post!

Timmy,
This being a gun forum, I don't want to take up space with other stuff.
However, if you go to http://roundhouseinc.org and look at the ALBUM section, you will see some photos there.
I don't have this years photos on there yet but there are many from past years.

Some of my photos are HERE, HERE and HERE

For those of you interested in taking photos of fireworks, here are some tips when using a DSLR.
The instructions are for a Nikon DSLR but I'm sure you can adapt them for your camera.

I actually used a different technique (using the "night portrait mode" on my DSLR) but the technique below should work well on any DSLR:
