Dehradoon......Jaspal Rana Shooting Range.

Post by prashantsingh » Sun Nov 14, 2010 6:00 pm

Nestled in the mountains .........the mightly Himalayas in the North and ancient Shivalks in the South. The holy Ganga in the East and the Yamuna in the West is the valley of the Doon.
A sleepy old town of yesteryears for the "tired , retired and about to expire" people , Dehradun has grown into a reasonably modern town and also the capital of a newly formed state of Uttarakhand.
In the early hours of the morning I happened to visit the Jaspal Rana Shooting Range. Unfortunately , it was at dawn break and I could only take a few snaps of the place.
One of the most picturesque Shooting Range I have been to . Surrounded by mountains on all the sides. With a spectacular view of the Hathipaon and Bhadraj Range.

Found this poster (hanging there) very interesting.
I think the poster says it all. Quotes from the "GEETA".

Absolutely true!
Justice alone is the mainstay of government and the source of prosperity to the governed, injustice is the most pernicious of things; it saps the foundations of the government and brings ruin upon the realm - Sher Shah Sur, Sultan-ul-Adil.

Its actually true,
if you define the weapon,
you can say it something like this,

"THE AMOUNT OF POWER YOU GET OUT OF A GOOD WEAPON IS BEYOND COMPARE WITH THE POWER OF REST OF THE WORLD" BUT PROVIDED THAT YOU MUST BE THE MASTER OF THE WEAPON THAT YOU ARE HAVING.

Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others.

Excellent, the meaning of quote from Gita is very similar to that of 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution! If I translate it roughly into English then it says:

"The State that protects the nation and its people with arms, only there the people can talk about arms"

And the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

The essence of the message conveyed by both of them is essentially the same!
"If my mother tongue is shaking the foundations of your State, it probably means that you built your State on my land" - Musa Anter, Kurdish writer, assassinated by the Turkish secret services in 1992

The whole epic of Mahabharata took place in India and it was written and published in India to Impart training and teaching on various aspect of life and the well being of people and the state,
But here the Irony of Indians start that Bhagbat Geeta is being well understood by the white collar American BABU'S and they made the second amendment, but after many incidents our BABUS are not awaking of their sleep.
AND still now we have to fight for the cause of RKBA.

so I think MAHARSHI VED VYASH might have learn some lessons from some American professor of political science.

This might be the reason WHY our babu's are not able digest these words of this great EPIC.

These word of mine is the only agony against the system as if I have done a crime by filling a application for 0.22 IOF SPORT MODEL(200m range)

PrashantSingh,

Thank you for those nice pics of the range, and the quote from the Geeta.

The third pic, I thought it was someone's house, it does look like one... Is that the clubhouse?

The 3rd picture is actually the Indoor Air Rifle / Air pistol 10 m range. (1st floor).
The Rana family has their house at the other end of the property.
The ground floor has a few rooms for trainees and a canteen along with the store.
